There is a time in
the life of each believer when he must choose what his determined
purpose will be. Will it be "Christian success?" Will it be to have a comfortable and contented household? Will it be to avoid conflict? Will it be to be secure? All of these ( and we could name many others) are complicated and the formula automatically includes human striving. It also excludes the unexpected and the out-of-control. I love Paul's statement: "My determined purpose is to know Him . . ." It is simple. It sets biblical priorities. It establishes the bottom line. What is your bottom line today? What is it you hold out for? Do you have times of impatience? Frustration? Resentment? Those things seem small to most Christians, but to the Soldier of the Cross, they are wicked sin, and God cannot and will not deal with them freely unless our determined purpose is in agreement with His plan of creation Oh, Soldier! Consider Him who "considered not the shame." It is worth giving up all to know Him! |
