When The Soldier
of The Cross finds himself longing deeply for something that
will perish at the end of time (or sooner), danger lies ahead. We are to deliberately place our treasure in eternity. And when the goal is financial stability, a better house, children who do not cause problems, or even the retreat from problems, it means that treasure has begun to be laid up in that achievement. Many, many people tell me their heartaches and they range from serious to petty. But to each, it is real. The issue is, does that thing need to be resolved before you can be free? If so, you have the treasure of your heart planted in that thing instead of eternity. Is there no peace at all until the misunderstanding is cleared up? Then your treasure is in the opinion of others. If we could see heaven and know ahead all the things He has for us, we would have no problem being different. But He has designed it to be a journey of faith. It results in greater glory now, and there will be greater glory then! |
