"Ye
have not because ye ask not. . ."
Our concept of what God can and
will do is often just that - a concept. With the mind,
we imagine the limits and possibilities, and when we veer from
being led in prayer by the Holy Spirit we pray only according
to human imagination, which of course is without a frontier.
The Soldier of the Cross who is
willing to be a living sacrifice must submit also to being trained
in prayer. Often there is little prayer because we can not thank
of what to ask.
But He who knows the end as well
as the beginning has designed it so that we must learn by
leaning. Leaning on those Everlasting Arms.
Not for the answer alone, but for
the request as well.
Lord, please!
Do the thing in me that will make me submit in prayer and learn
to listen more acutely to the desires of your heart rather than
mine. I long to be available in a new and deeper way to pray
forth the agenda of heaven.
Let me see you more clearly and
recognize you more quickly, Oh Lord, My Strength and My Redeemer.
