A Soldier of
the Cross must come to grips with the providence of God. The situation in which you find yourself is God's providence unless you are living in known sin, and if that is the case, you must cease. Otherwise, you do not look back, you do not fantasize about alternatives, and you do not seek a false balance by talking about it constantly. There comes a moment in prayer when there must be an acknowledgement that the Lord is sovereign in the present situation, and that the believer is willing to let the Lord lead the way one tiny step at a time. After that has happened, (and it should be outloud) the Holy Spirit will often lead the follower into a season of assuring him that even though the circumstances seem dark, He has only the best in store for him. Then, the choices come one at a time. They seem like tiny choices and they don't appear to lead to immediate consequence - like singing hymns when swirling words from hell form in the mind. Or deliberately pointing out a beautiful quality of a Brother or Sister instead of criticizing the obvious or even remaining silent. These actions are the obedient use of our faculties according the the Word of God and they declare our witness that God is sovereign and in control. The farther we go with the Lord, the more we must relinquish our ability to evaluate and then we must proceed. We have a God who makes gold out of ashes and heavenly brocade out of earthly knots. He doesn't do it any other way. Stop examining the process and yield to the One who gives power to the nations and holds the stars in place. |
