While you
are living today, you cannot live tomorrow.
That is what worry is
- the attempt to deal with that which cannot be dealt with before
the time of its ripeness.
The Soldier of the Cross has much
instruction about worry. Not only are we told to release anxiety
once and for all, we are told that we must release all that encumbers
us, and that we must take every thought captive and lead it away.
We are not given a choice.
That means that in order to live
an obedient and holy life we must take seriously the pitfall
of worry. Remember the little song?
Why worry, when
you can pray;
Trust Jesus, He'll be your stay.
Don't be a doubting Thomas!
Rest fully on His promise.
Why worry, worry, worry, worry;
When you can pray!
