For some ,
obedient living is terribly difficult. Who knows why! In some cases it is flagrant rebellion and in others it is the result of being horribly spoiled in childhood. There are some who have dabbled in the occult and have a residual weakness that must be overcome by deliverance. But I know some wonderful saints who want the Lord - saints who get no thrill from anything else, and yet they fall so well under the "Romans wail" that Paul lets out when he is explaining the work of the Holy Spirit in us: "that which I would do, I can not. And that which I would not do, I do. . " Brothers and Sisters, we live one minute at a time. You can not act now for tomorrow, nor can you act now to balance yesterday. Those who struggle need love. Pure, precious, supernatural, Holy Spirit Love. At the same time, those who wrestle so with simple Christian living must live as though there were only a tiny time left - not in order to accomplish much, but in order to be found walking in obedience. You alone govern your body. All these things begin in the mind and are carried out through action or restraint. I have known women who wrote poems on the back of their hands, carried small note cards that said "Judgment Day" and other creative things. The issue is, the situation is not the issue. Jesus is the issue. You can't do anything about undoing your born againness. That is, you can't unborn yourself and crawl back up into the canal. Too late. What's more, why would you want to? As smudgy as you feel, He see you as covered by His Blood, and each though you have of Him ravishes His heart. No one else loves you that way. No one! Live in the Now of the Bible. Do the next thing. And do it according to God's Word - you know it very well! |
