Always read the Bible. As vigorous as I am about daily memorization, the number one priority must be Bible reading. The Word of God fuels prayer and takes root in the believer's heart in such a way that he is confident the Lord hears and will answer. Also, there must be a context for the verses focused on, and there must be a steady reading through, from cover to cover. I am totally opposed to the plans that offer to take one through the Bible in a year, and then they hop you around, rarely having you read even one full chapter. Of course, we often read things out of sequence, and often study that way. But Soldier, if you have lagged in your reading, reinvigorate and open the Book! |
