What is really happening when a believer is disgruntled? He has forgotten, or perhaps he has never understood, he has no earthly rights. Most of us want to sit on a throne of glory now. He wants others to refrain from criticism, and when they don't, he reacts badly because he is looking at the offense as causing his pain. That is not the way Christians ought to live. We have been crucified with Christ. That means we have the possibility of living above and without yielding to the demands of the flesh. Christian Soldier, do you have a right to be treated well by others? No. We have the privilege of sweet communion and love of the Brethren, but we are told to esteem the other more highly. You must learn to be a Grace-giver. A Grace-giver does not make a judgment on the words or behavior of the other. A Grace-giver does not have a flesh flash each time he is challenged or corrected. A Grace-giver does not consider how he has been treated as worthy of any attention at all. A grace-giver is eager to pray for transformation ongoingly, in order to prevent that slimy tool of the devil from slipping in - fear of opinion of others. Soldier, turn in horror from your own tendency to react when others rub you the wrong way. If you do not pray about this, you will have no peace. |
