You will get the thing you really want. The problem is, you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want the Lord, you must give up all to have Him. It doesn't mean you will be sitting on a dust mound with nothing, but you can not cling to baggage and have intimacy with the One who is calling you. If you want wealth, you can probably have it. If you want control over human circumstances, you can have it for a season, but the Lord makes sure the control does not last long. If you want to feel spiritual, you can have that, but it comes with extreme depression as a chaser. You can turn on the television and hear the call to health and wealth, worship of family, political activism, and hurricane-force feelings. But you will rarely hear about the Cross. the place of the death of the flesh. You will rarely hear a preacher say "Tell Him He can do anything with your life. . ." It isn't a popular message. Soldier, decide what you want. You don't have to see it, but by faith. Ask for Him to make his own likeness in you. He can be trusted. |
