Elijah was human
like we are. The Bible says he had emotions, affections, and a constitution exactly as we do. And he prayed earnestly that it would not rain and no rain fell on the earth for three years and six months. Then, when he prayed again, it rained. The passage is in the book of James to let us know that earnest prayer is heard and honored by the Lord. There can be no earnest prayer that is not in the will of God. There can be pleading and begging for a time or two, but there will be no earnest and continued prayer flowing into heaven unless it stems from and is empowered by the Holy Spirit. Brothers and sisters, our praying is too limited. Let us stand before the throne without concept and without personal agenda. When I stand before Him, I want very much to hear Him say, "You were my good and faithful servant. You prayed earnestly. " |
