Hyperspirituality
always craves a poetic twist or an emotional impact. But the Holy Spirit doesn't work that way. The flesh loves a good show. That is why so many televangelists have large followings. For the most part, the crowds that throng to hear them are shallow and addicted to sensationalism. I have always appreciated men like Billy Graham who appeal to no human need except salvation. Soldier, many of these other preaches are interesting. Actually, they are fascinating. But they always preach a lethal message - one without the Cross. Remember, the Cross is the place of the death of the flesh, and you can not combine the Cross with a message of health and wealth. There are several women preachers who have taken the Christian world by storm. But no Soldier can be taken by storm - and why? Because the Soldier is a Soldier of the Cross, and is looking for only what the Master wants. Turn it off. Look up and move on! |
