Soldier, we walk the most narrow
road, and yet we have the widest desires. We are not embroiled in a contest with the flesh as many would have us believe. Rather, we are commanded to look away unto the Author and Finisher of our Faith. This is not a battle of equals, but a living out of the victory already won. The experience of that victory comes through moment-by-moment choice, and we know obedience is possible. So often Christians are disheartened, thinking it is hopeless and the command to live a holy life is possible for others, but not for themselves. Soldier, this is not so. You keep moving and singing and pressing into the thing at hand. Stop considering your own victory or defeat and consider the One who considered not the shame, but went to the Cross for you. When you are with Him in Glory, there will be all the non-time of eternity to look back and see. No need to evaluate now or then. We spend far too much time revolving around ourselves and far too little time in worship. |
