All the way my Savior leads me. . . A the wonderful old song says. Not just parts of the way here and there, nor just the beginning. But all the way. It is I who look away and linger too long over things that are familiar and that press into the shape of my hand. It is I who have predetermined limits as to how He can lead me. It is I who squint, desperately peering ahead so as to glean some small fleshly comfort in not waiting to know. It is I who must be changed - constantly changed. As long as He tarries, I must learn more and more to love the wait, to cease being distracted, and to let go of the things so tightly clutched in my closed fist. Then and only then will I always see Jesus. |
