A pastor rarely feels like a pastor and a
missionary rarely feels like a missionary.
It isn't hard to spot those who are desperately trying gain a
sense of personal satisfaction from the Christian "role"
filled. I have seen them again and again, particularly in other
countries and they have no peace.
Are you a servant, Soldier? If so, you must not expect to feel
like a servant. After all, what is a "servant feeling?"
Those in the Service of the King must be done with all self-evaluation
and make sure their eyes are turned on to Jesus.
Our attention must be riveted on the One who had no earthly home,
and counted not the shame, but passed on through it all for our
sakes.
The Soldier who does not create his own standard will not have
to meet it. He will not perform for others or for himself, but
in fact, will only be doing the next thing as best he can, looking
away unto Jesus.
This is incredibly important. It is the reason most pastors and
preachers are dull and uninspired - because they must have a
sense of doing the job well, and they are not willing to simply
stand, open the mouth, and wait for the power to flow forth.
Soldier, if you feel foolish, let it go. He doesn't need
a prize-winning preacher - he just needs an available donkey. |
