The Lord is always full of surprises, but He never ambushes us. His Plan for us is one of trust and intimacy and He takes no pleasure in our distress. He does, however, allow us to go through situations that seem more than we can bear so that we can learn to rely on Him. It seems our first instinct is to try to become stronger in order to be able to handle things by ourselves the next time. Yet, His perfect Plan is that we lean more heavily on Him. We need to see Him more clearly, hear Him more clearly, and follow Him more quickly. When the trial comes, it is not that we have done something wrong, but more often than not, it is that we are being molded and shaped by the Potter. We crave to look ahead and see the solution, but there is no need. The One who holds all things by His Word of Power can see it all and has already taken care of it. |
