Make sure your treasure is not on earth.
Your treasure can not be in your children, or your wife, or your ambitions. Nor can
your treasure be having a super ministry.
Your treasure must be Jesus.
He alone is Precious. Of course we love others, and many we know will be with
us in eternity. But today's Christian teaching is marinated with a seduction that is
intended to make a "happy marriage" a goal, rather than a ministry of Life to the
mate and or a laid down life that reveals the Cross - the death of the flesh.
Christianity today is full of entertainment and stimulation.
Jesus is interesting, and there is nothing like His Presence, but you can be
sure He is not a show or a feeling.
What it boils down to is, are we going to be experience oriented or are we going to
live by faith?
Are we going to give up and decide the most important thing has been lost if a
child disappoints us badly? If that is the case, the treasure was in the child in the first
place, and that alone is crippling enough to keep a parent blind and much too self-
aware.
Have we failed if the marriage partner is unpleasant to us all the time? Should we
try to get counseling until we are comfortable? Wat about the Cross?
What happened to "Anything you want, Lord?"
I know Christians who will say "Jesus wants you to have a happy marriage."
Well, maybe and maybe not. I don't know and neither do you. The Bible does not
mention it. The Bible only tells us how each mate should be to the other and what the
roles are and what they represent.
What the Lord does want is that you get to know Him.
He wants you to be like Him, and He wants His Life to flow through you. He does
not want you to make your home here.
Heaven is your home.
