You must absolutely speak the truth all the time. This does not mean you should be "frank", as those who are frank, simply say the thing that comes in to the mind or they say what they see or feel. I am speaking about the Word of God. There are things all day long - from school issues that concern or involve children to personal things that ought not to happen in the first place. When you speak even one word, it must line up with the Word of God. Are you issuing an opinion? That means you are pulling evidence together and making a statement based on incomplete knowledge. Be careful! Are you barking out a reprimand? Can you justify your attitude and words based on some passage or principal in the Word? Wives, be preciously careful in the correction of your husbands. If you have a correction to offer, make absolutely sure it lines up with the Word. No, you may not simply quote a verse to make him jump, but you must speak in a respectful manner that reflects your obedience to the verse instructing you that your life is to compliment his - not the other way around. Husbands, you are usually angry when there is a disagreement. This is not allowed by the Lord, and there must be an adjustment. Words create and make way for Life and they also throw the door open for a death experience. But, Oh Soldier! If you will but beg Him to regulate your tongue, and if you will crave the leading and restraint of the Holy Spirit, you will step into a way of living and a depth of fellowship with the Lord that you never dreamed possible. Learn to develop a dependent spirit. Stop before you speak. It will take all you are. Allow Him to lead, and you will have a Song in your heart - a new song - and you will never be the same! |
