The thing we choose gets to be the normal thing in our lives. So, we must be sure to be choosing Jesus and not carnality. Going to meetings faithfully becomes a habit and gets to be normal. The believer who attends only occasionally does not see the oddness of irregularity, but it seems normal and private to exhibit the lack of that habit. Many Christians think of their lives as normal when there is no devotional life. Daily habits and activities revolve around in a never-ending circle and it feels normal. In fact, when there begins to be a disciplined devotional life, it feels like something is stretching out of shape and there is actually a significant physical discipline that must be exercised just to enter into the devotional time. Those who meet with the Lord daily develop the habit, and it becomes normal. We may not depend on what feels normal or comfortable. Our lives must be in response to the Word of God and regulated by the Holy Spirit. All our waking moments explode with choice. Daily living must be the Pursuit of God and must never be sagging into patterns that seem to work for us. We need only to look up. He said He would lead us with His eyes. And He will |
