Where there is a correction to be made because of sin, the purpose must be
restoration.
If there is any other goal, the individual will be wounded or become jaded.
If the one correcting wants to see misery because of sin or is trying to make the
offender understand he has done something terrible, the Holy Spirit will be quenched
and the straying one will have been humanly influenced instead of brought to Divine
correction and conviction.
If I feel responsible to bring the sinner into repentance, I will always over-do it and
will rely on my own words and methods.
The Lord is the Shepherd who leaves the ninety - and - nine to go after the
straying lamb.
