I have learned the old nature panics when there is a loss of control. The new nature finds freedom in faith. For the Soldier of the Cross, it is not a matter of retraining the old nature, but it is a matter of obedient choice. There are numerous areas where a loss of control guarantees disaster on a human level - illness, finances, the job, marital problems, opinions of others, and we could probably make the list quite long. The issue is, what does the Bible say? Has the Lord lost control? Of course not. Will He let one of His Own suffer unnecessarily? No. What, then, is going on? We don't know. What we do know is that He said He would see that no good thing was withheld. Most Christians live their lives as do the unsaved. They have all kinds of wonderful Christian verbiage to sling around, but when there is a loss of control, they struggle for control instead of pressing to submit to the One who is the Source of all things. Does it seem like the damage can never be repaired? Not so. The Lord specializes in restoration, and He can breath Glory into the situation beyond anything we could have imagined. Pause to reflect on who He is. Then be as honest with Him as you can, and look for Him. He will not delay. |
