You can not live the Christian life without devotional time. The greatest failing in the Church today is the lack of emphasis on the devotional life. I have probably heard every excuse there is. The worst excuse? "No time." If you have small children, there are days when a woman hits the floor running and it seems that it does not stop. But the One who commands we spend time with Him is more than able to arrange the time. The main reason believers do not meet with the Lord is passivity. It is so much easier to do almost anything else, and the body just seems to resist and press against the physical movements of Bible reading and prayer. Soldier, when you get to heaven, you will realize the number one thing in life on earth is that a Christian produced wood, hay, and stubble in all that is not born out of prayer. With out God's Word, there is no fuel for prayer. You can't fake it - ask the Lord to get you up in the night if need be. He will always that request, and you will go back to sleep and awaken refreshed. Turn on the light - begin a consistent devotional life. |
