Compassion is not feeling sorry for people. And although it is experienced, it is far different than sentimentality. Many believers can not tell the difference because of a lack of prayer. When there is a regular prayer life, there is skill to present issues and problems to the Lord and the believer can relax in being led by Him. But when there is no prayer, feeling is mistaken for the leading of the Spirit and Christians fall into patterns of floppilly doing what is wanted, rather than being surrendered in compassionate service. Soldier of the Cross, you are simply not allowed to have a spotty prayer life. Learn to do business with God. Learn to prayerfully submit to His Plan, rather than to your sight, each day. Then you will have a heart that will be moved by the Holy Spirit and you will be able to follow through. |
