A quiet spirit comes from leaning on the Lord. You know, leaning on the Lord begins with what we consider to be small choices. The little, everyday things that might not even be noticed, but because of obediently taking in the Word daily, the heart presses away the lower level and chooses the thing that lines up with God's Law. Then, when the ground begins to shake and it seems that all might fall apart, there stands the calm, settled Soldier of the Cross. Others around him are angry because he is not joining them in their frustration, but you see, he has learned to live in a flow of immediately looking for the reaction that lines up with God's Word. And, The Soldier has learned that obedience is the access to the Master. He has come to realize that he wants His Presence and His Way more than anything else, and The Soldier knows that Love knows best. So, instead of an up-and-down spirit, or a stormy spirit, The Soldier of the Cross has a calm and quiet spirit. He is hidden in the Secret Place of Psalm 91, and he is an observer only. He knows that underneath him are The Everlasting Arms. |
