The Bible says the only temptations dangling in front of you are those that are common to man. Temptation is not the issue. Choice is the issue. Temptation is entirely different for the believer than the unbeliever. The unbeliever bases choice on personal priorities, and the believer bases his choice on God's priorities. When we choose obedience, we often do not get answers or explanations that we think would relieve the itch of longing to sin. We have been given clear directions and when the enemy comes at us, we are not helpless victims. We know better. Yes, the enemy is energetic and has quite a bag of tricks. But, they are limited, and they are the ones he has used since the world began. Soldier, when you are tempted, you have not sinned - you are being confronted with a choice. That choice takes place in the thoughts. Step over the line. Choose obedience. Choose Jesus. |
