Sentimentality is a deep, deep trap.
Yes, we should feel. Yes, we need to listen to others. Yes, we bear the
burdens of our Brothers and Sisters.
I find, however that many or even most Christians listen with feelings rather
than listening through the Word of God. What this means is that often Christians
are pulled about by the strong desires of others.
It means that vast numbers of well-meaning Believers pray amiss, because
they have lacked the wisdom to develop the habit of lining up all prayer with God's
Word.
Interestingly, those who are the most filled, have the most tender hearts, and
are eager to lay their lives down for others, are the first to hesitate before buying
into a second-party shopping list during the prayer time.
Soldier, the prayer time is sacred. Intercessory prayer must be offered in
Wisdom and according to the Sovereignty of God.
Stand firm in these matters and be your own man. Or woman.
Prayer is to agree with God.
