   Amy Carmichael said to the Lord, "Thy songbird hath a broken wing. . .
     She was in intense physical pain for twenty years, and she could not turn over
without help.
     The only thing she had ever asked the Lord for in terms of her own self was, to
be spared the experience of having to use the time of other Servants, in order to 
take care of her.
     But, the Lord's best for her was physical pain.
    And in her books, Any declares her confidence in His sovereignty.  Why is her 
writing so encouraging?  
     Because she never questioned the Lover of her Soul.
     She accepted the Word of God.
     Those of us who have never lived in physical pain have no idea of the toll it
takes on energy, attitude, and concentration.
     But, the Lord does know best.  And, He has appointed some of His most 
choice Servants the privilege of this endurance.
     It is The Cross.
    Whatever He brings is The Cross.
    Soldier, are you available?
