Even in your devotional life, you must be systematic.

Read the Bible though from cover to cover - over and over and over. Read the books in the order in which they are printed in your language. The Lord knew what He was doing when He ordered them, and if you take things out of order most of the time, you will miss the message of His Word.

There is certainly a time for study of particular books. Word studies are also valuable. So are topical studies.

But for the most part, go through the Word cover to cover during your devotions. I have one time each day when I read several chapters at a time. But in my private time with my King, I take a few verses - the next few, wherever I am reading. If a no verse seizes me, I simply take one and memorize it.

The Word is eternal. You must be cleansed and challenged each day. Do not look for some kind of revelation. Revelation will come because of seeking Him. Just get into the Word because He has commanded it.
